Senior Specialist gina.gavett@ilsnc.org Gina equips and trains the visually impaired to function in a sighted world. She specializes in reintegration training, assistive technology and resource connection. Helping people regain independence is her passion, as she has over 20 years of experience coping with her own partial vision loss due to retinal disease. Gina’s work efforts with the visually impaired include: Low-vision specialist at the Eye Life Institute, director of a low-vision support group, Sight Conservation Chairperson with the Lions Club, and she received the “Role Model of the Year” award for low-vision advocacy through assistive technology from the AT Network. “There is much hope for the visually impaired,” Gina says. “Losing your sight does not have to mean losing sight of your dreams.”
